Regional university between global challenges and local tasks solution

Globalization and digitalization today have an impact on all the processes taking place in modern society, radically changing the picture of the world, tightly embedded in the daily life of each person, which in turn not just leaves an imprint on the development of
higher education, but makes it completely transformed. Therefore, the successful development of the university depends on the ability to integrate into both global global trends and state strategic priorities. This study aims to identify the state and possible directions
of development of the regional university in the context of the ongoing transformation of the economy under the influence of modern technologies. The methodological and theoretical basis of the study consists of work on the changes taking place in
higher education in the period of digitalization of the economy, the main areas of transformation of research and innovation, as the basis of the economy of the future, government documents of strategic planning in the field of scientific, technological and innovative
development. The article analyzes scientific indicators, on the example of a particular regional university. It is shown that the implemented approach at the university is based on the chosen strategic line in the field of management of scientific activities of the university, which is based on the priorities of the state scientific policy. The application of the experience contributes to a more effective solution of the Government's strategic objectives at universities.
